Objective
Choose a notable figure from Cincinnati's history and convince people to come to an event celebrating this person's accomplishments.
I chose Steven Spielberg, a very accomplished director known for movies like Jaws, E.T., and Schindler’s List. He has made a wide variety of movies throughout his career, and that range is something I wanted to highlight in my design.
Hierarchy Studies
We began by conducting a series of hierarchy studies to test the order in which viewers receive information.
Experimentation and Image Gathering
We then began collecting images to be potentially used in our poster design. We used a variety of materials and methods to try to produce as much variety as possible.
I ended up using these last three photos in my final poster
Digital Exploration
I wanted to explore a wide variety of ideas and see how different layouts, type, and images could work together. I tried different ways of arranging the information to see what looked the best and communicated the message clearly.

After I decided on a direction, I continued exploring it by changing the typography, colors, and hierarchy to see what worked best and communicated my idea.
Typeface Studies
I ultimately ended up choosing the font Obviously because of it boldness and variety, similar to Steven Spielberg.
Final Poster
The final poster communicates Steven Spielberg’s multifaceted career and the wide variety of movies he has created. I wanted to show that he is more than just a director of blockbuster movies and highlight the different sides of his work. The poster uses typography and imagery to show his influence and make people interested in learning more about him.
